Around the Houses

Around the houses, guests can bathe at the Azibo river beach, which is 15 km away. They can also go hiking, boating, cycling or walking, where they can enjoy the beauty of the Azibo reservoir and its dam, which is only 2 km away.

Relax by the pool or walk around Vale da Porca past the old railway station to a picnic area on the banks of the River Azibo, which includes a barbecue, granite tables, lighting, toilets and drinking water, as well as a visit to the parish church, which is 25 m from the house.

Vale da Porca is also part of the municipality's network of geosites with 2 places of interest: Vale da Porca Cenozoic Sediments and Vale da Porca Talc.

This parish is also home to the small village of Banrezes, which was abandoned many decades ago due to an epidemic. Ruins are all that remains of this place, as well as its undeniable natural beauty.

Caretos de Podence,

the Caretos de Podence originate from the village of Podence, in the municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros. They were declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO on December 12, 2019. As part of the winter festivities characteristic of the Trás-os-Montes region, the Caretos represent diabolical and mysterious images that take to the streets every year during the carnival festivities. They come out hissing their frenetic rattles tightly crossed on the colorful bangs of thick blankets. The younger boys who follow and imitate the caretos are called facanitos and ensure that the tradition continues.
